Resumen

El objetivo de este trabajo fue poner a prueba un modelo conceptual en el que se analiza el rol de los antecedentes interpersonales (percepción del deportista de la presión por ser perfecto por parte de sus padres – PPP - y entrenador – PPE -) sobre la intención que tienen los deportistas adolescentes de continuar practicando deporte, y el papel que juega la motivación en esa relación. Una batería de cuestionarios que midieron las variables de estudio fue aplicada a 259 deportistas de ambos sexos. El modelo de ecuaciones estructurales, controlado por la variable sexo, representó bien las relaciones observadas: χ2 = 215.6, df = 107, p < 0.001, CFI = 0.91, TLI = 0.89, RMSEA = 0.07, 90% CI [0.05, 0.08], SRMR = 0.06. La PPP influenció positivamente la motivación menos autodeterminada, y esta lo hizo negativamente con la intención de continuar la práctica deportiva en el futuro. En tanto que la PPE influenció positivamente la motivación autónoma, y esta positivamente la intención. Los efectos indirectos sugirieron una mediación parcial de la motivación autónoma entre PPE e intención. Se concluye que la faceta PP tiene diferentes cualidades motivacionales, de las cuales PPE puede ser adaptativa, y PPP tiende a ser poco adaptativa. De esta forma, se promueve la reflexión crítica en los/las entrenadores sobre las altas expectativas que establecen sobre sus deportistas, y la evaluación demasiado crítica hacia los mismos.
