Abstract
Living in poverty forces to implement subsistence strategies, being a challenge generate resources for covering basic expenses, so wanting to save would be something prohibited. This article analysis experiences about saving of Chilean people in poverty situation. A qualitative study which 70 people in 6 focus groups was conducted. Initially, participants didn’t recognize that they save, but then it emerges from their speeches saving strategies, identifying facilitators and obstacles for saving. Collectively share these experiences produces an effect of learning about saving among the participants. We concluded that it is possible to save and we reflect about the importance of including this in public and private social interventions related to financial education as a tool for overcoming poverty.This journal is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
