Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the relation between emotional intelligence, measure with two types of instrument, and academic performance, intelligence, satisfaction with life, perceived social support and risk behaviors. In the study, a sample of 381 students from the University of Guadalajara (México) participated, who completed two tests of Emotional Intelligence MSCEIT and TMMS-24, the test of primary mental aptitudes (PMA), the perceived social support test (MOS-SSS), a scale of satisfaction with life and an ad hoc questionnaire of risk behaviors. The results indicate that EI is related to life satisfaction and perceived social support and shows no relationship with the other variables of the study.
