Abstract
Este artículo presenta el papel de Georges Dumas en el desarrollo de la psicología en Brasil durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. Para ese momento, Francia tenía una gran influencia en el desarrollo cultural y científico brasileño, incluyendo el campo de la psicología. Georges Dumas tuvo una destacada presencia en Brasil, actuando como un guardián al elegir eruditos franceses para dar conferencias y clases en Brasil entre 1908 y 1940 como representante de la tradición cultural francesa. La bibliografía de Georges Dumas Traité de Psychologie, publicada entre 1900 y 1940, muestra una selección de los académicos brasileños que interactuaron con el autor. Se estudió el contexto político de los intercambios franco-brasileños y los nombres de los profesores que participaron en la misión francesa en Brasil en el campo de la psicología. La influencia cultural francesa en Brasil se interpreta como una estrategia destinada a contribuir a la solución de los problemas de Brasil, y que ayudó a cambiar la imagen de Brasil en Europa.
