Abstract

Summary: Introduction: Cancer encompasses several diseases arising from the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. Meanwhile, biological mechanisms have been studied by which certain components of coffee possess antioxidant,
2
antiangiogenic, and modulation properties of pathways regulating tumor growth. Objective: To compile, analyze, and summarize evidence on the effect of regular coffee consumption on gastric cancer incidence. Methods: An umbrella review will be conducted with a search for meta-analyses and systematic reviews in databases such as EMBASE, PubMed, Cochrane, and Lilacs from inception to February 2023; grey literature will be included. Article quality assessment will use the AMSTAR 2 tool (Assessing the methodological quality of systematic reviews). The search, selection, and data extraction will be independently performed by a pair of researchers, and discrepancies will be resolved through consensus. Discussion: Synthesizing evidence on the effect of regular coffee consumption on gastric cancer incidence will help address gaps in both knowledge and clinical practice.
