Abstract
Se estudió durante la estación seca, la densidad y distribución vertical del banco de semillas (cariopside) de Chusquea tomentosa, un bambú semélparo de floración gregaria de los bosques de roble (Quercus spp.) de Costa Rica. La densidad de semillas de muestras de suelo a 0-3 cm. de profundidad se estimó en 409/m2. No se encontraron semillas a mayor profundidad. El peso medio de una semilla fue de 0.0122 g., aproximadamente 50 kg./ha.
