Abstract
En este trabajo se analiza la evolución de la situación del indígena en América Latina, mostrando como a pesar de la conquista y colonización logró sobrevivir como individuo y grupo étnico. Se hace un breve planteamiento sobre la situación actual de las comunidades indígenas.
El artículo termina mostrando cual ha sido el papel de la iglesia en el proceso histórico frente a las comunidades indígenas y cuáles son las reflexiones actuales de la Iglesia con relación a la situación del indígena.
