Abstract
El presente artículo forma parte de una investigación historiográfica acerca de las Sociedades Democráticas entre 1848 y 1854. En la investigación se trabajaron comparativamente la información y la explicación contenidas en siete obras de autores del siglo XIX, que hacen explícita referencia a las Sociedades Democráticas. Los objetivos de la investigación fueron: 1. Establecer lo que hoy pueae darse por "conocimiento adquirido" sobre el origen, crecimiento, radicalización y composición social de las Sociedades Democráticas a partir de esas siete obras; 2. Examinar hasta qué punto tales obras, consideradas como fuentes primarias, pueden ser utilizadas como tales; 3. Profundizar algunos aspectos teórico-metodo/ógicos de la investigación historiográfica, tales como la incidencia de lo ideológico, el movimiento de la temática en el tiempo, el uso de obras de autores contemporáneos a los hechos como fuentes primarias, la forma de superar el uso individual de estas obras y la elaboración de las fuentes por el historiador, etc.
