Abstract
Hasta el día de hoy, para los historiadores, continúa la polémica en torno a una precisión de los conceptos de civilización y cultura. Esta polémica no es indiferente, ya que cualquiera sea la opción escogida, de las varias existentes, significa comprometerse con una visión de la historia, con una concepción determinada, con todo lo que ello significa en el trabajo mismo del historiador, en sus perspectivas epistemológicas, en sus evaluaciones teórico-metodológicas. Además determina su compromiso como hombre del presente, que a partir de su conocimiento y reflexión del pasado, proyecta sobre su tiempo histórico y sobre el futuro, las proposiciones para la construcción de una sociedad nueva, más justa, con un hombre que fundamentalmente sea poseedor de sí mismo.

The journal Universitas Humanística is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License. Thus, this work may be reproduced, distributed, and publicly shared in digital format, as long as the names of the authors and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana are acknowledged. Others are allowed to quote, adapt, transform, auto-archive, republish, and create based on this material, for any purpose (even commercial ones), provided the authorship is duly acknowledged, a link to the original work is provided, and it is specified if changes have been made.
