Abstract
En nuestro país al igual que en muchas otras partes del mundo, ha sido bastante frecuente el saqueo de yacimientos arqueológicos sin tener en cuenta los más elementales principios técnicos como la estratigrafía. Esta práctica, que hoy ha venido a ser ilegal además de antitécnica y antagónica con el procedimiento arqueológico, se conoce en buena parte de Hispanoamérica con el nombre de Guaquería, término de filiación Engato* tica Kechua.
Fuera de constituir un medio peligroso para el conveniente estudio de nuestras culturales prehispánicas, la Guaquería ha sido un elemento detractor del patrimonio cultural de las naciones, y concretamente de Colombia, porque está indefectiblemente unida al comercio clandestino irü-ternacional de valiosas piezas que van a parar en colecciones particulares o en museos de Norte América y Europa.This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public, encourages greater global exchange of knowledge.
