Abstract
El acontecimiento más sobresaliente al iniciarse el nuevo curso fue la puesta en marcha de una nueva carrera en la Facultad: la carrera de Bibliotecología.
El Consejo Directivo de la Universidad dio la aprobación definitiva al proyecto, largamente debatido, de crear en la Universidad, como un programa dependiente de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, la Licenciatura en Bibliotecología. Siguiendo las recomendaciones del ICFES, se introdujeron algunos cambios en el plan de estudios publicados en elN° 3 de esta revista. Por otra parte, de acuerdo con las disposiciones del Consejo Directivo de la Universidad, se organizó la carrera en forma de "programa cerrado" es decir, que no se iniciarán nuevas promociones hasta que hayan concluido estudios quienes ingresaron a la primera. Pareció prudente no adquirir el compromiso de tener que graduar cada año a un grupo más o menos numeroso de Bibliotecólogos, hasta que la necesidad real de un alto número de profesionales en Bibliotecología que existe en el país, pase a ser una necesidad sentida y la demanda ocupaeional, al nivel para el que se preparan nuestros licenciados, exija que la carrera se abra cada año para una nueva promoción.
