Abstract
The article aims to make a theoretical methodological proposal for the study of the evolution of urban informality as a conceptual category and as a phenomenon, focusing on the transformations of sociodemographic conformations and their ways of living. To do this, the text begins by synthesizing the causes of the phenomenon and the reasons why it consolidates a specific population profile, subsequently reflects the way in which the stages of informality transformation have been studied so far, analyzing the actors involved and changes in irregularities that informality implies. Finally, a proposal is presented for the study of the densification of informal areas from a relational perspective that incorporates the analysis of population variables.
