Abstract
Com fins místicos, didáticos ou de performance convencional, grupos em diferentes sociedades expressaram-se por meio dos sons no decorrer da história da humanidade. Atualmente, porém, a expressão da musicalidade extrapolou esses limites para atender demandas sociais e de promoção de saúde. Este artigo apresenta uma perspectiva social da produção musical em grupo, com foco no contexto musicoterapêutico. Foram analisados aspectos sociais, afetivos, cognitivos, culturais e físicos, intrínsecos ao espaço grupal. Eles mostraram que a prática musicoterapêutica sociocomunitária permite um entendimento aprofundado do processo grupal. Essencial para a compreensão das relações intersubjetivas que se deram na comunidade estudada foi a presença do musicoterapeuta, dos participantes e da sonoridade por eles produzida.
