Abstract
Este artículo se propone determinar si la ciudad ideal descrita por Piet Mondrian en sus escritos, se ha materializado en alguna ocasión.
La metodología de investigación consiste, en primer lugar, en deducir las características de la ciudad ideal de Mondrian a partir de sus escritos teóricos, en segundo lugar, en verificar si los paralelismos que se han señalado hasta la fecha en la literatura existente cumplen las citadas características y, en tercer lugar, en verificar si el Pabellón de Barcelona de Mies van der Rohe las cumple. Los resultados sugieren que el Pabellón de Barcelona es una representación —pequeño modelo o maqueta—de la ciudad ideal neoplástica descrita por Mondrian en sus escritos. En muchas ocasiones se ha sugerido el paralelismo entre la arquitectura de Mies y el neoplasticismo, pero nunca, hasta ahora, entre la ciudad ideal de Mondrian y el Pabellón de Barcelona.
