¿Cómo teorizar desde el Caribe? Y ¿Qué implica esto, en cuanto a tema, enfoque y realización de los textos? Por lo demás, ¿Cuáles son las ataduras políticas de tal empresa? ¿Cuáles sus repercusiones? La respuesta a estas preguntas es palmaria en Cuerpo y cultura. Las músicas“mulatas” y la subversión del baile, el último libro del sociólogo puertorriqueño Ángel “Chuco” Quintero Rivera. Este libro ambicioso, tejido con minucia y elegancia, se inserta de lleno en discusiones de hondo calado político sobre identidades, sociedad y conocimiento poscoloniales. Su amplitud de mirada, así como su erudición y solidez investigativa, lo convierten en punto de referencia ineludible para el estudio sobre el Caribe, y Latinoamérica. Por su versatilidad metodológica, Las músicas “mulatas” invita también a abrir un diálogo entre las disciplinas concentradas en pensar y repensar problemáticas relativas a este marco geopolítico denominado Latinoamérica y el Caribe.
