Abstract
Alberto Urdaneta fue ilustrador, pintor, muralista, fotógrafo, militar, periodista, urbanista, gestor cultural y pedagogo colombiano. Director y fundador del Papel Periódico Ilustrado (1881), y fue fundador de la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Colombia (1886) y su primer director.Por su actividad en el Papel Periódico Ilustrado, su vinculación con la Academia Vásquez y con la Escuela de Grabado, su interés por la gráfica y la manera como concibió los vasos comunicantes entre imagen y texto, Urdaneta constituye una piedra fundacional en el campo de la gráfica y de la ilustración en Colombia. Por otra parte, su compromiso con el país, el momento histórico y la cotidianidad lo convierten en testigo fundamental de un momento de quiebre en términos de la construcción del Estado-nación en Colombia.This journal is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
