Resumo

Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa sobre a cultura organizacional a partir de dois exercícios: (1) identificar elementos mínimos que deveriam considerar-se para examinar a pertinência de um modelo sobre a cultura organizacional e (2) um estudo exploratório sobre as relações entre cultura e desempenho organizacional com base no modelo de Denison e seus colegas. Dessa forma, resenha-se em primeiro lugar, uma forma de caracterizar o modelo no contexto dos estudos sobre cultura, o contexto teórico geral e resultados de estudos anteriores. Em seguida, no estudo exploratório, busca-se estrutura fatorial dos rasgos da cultura propostos no modelo (consistência, envolvimento, adaptabilidade e missão) em uma mostra de empresas colombianas e avaliam-se hipóteses que relacionam rasgos da cultura com indicadores de desempenho organizacional. Encontra-se que estrutura fatorial não se ajusta à estrutura esperada, e só a missão evidencia relações significativas com algumas medidas de desempenho. Baseando-se nos resultados propõem-se lineamentos para pesquisas futuras sobre a relação entre a cultura e o desempenho organizacional.
