Abstract
This paper discusses some important divergences between Euro-American plant theory and the role of plants in Amazonian indigenous cosmology. The purpose of it is not to posit a West/non-West binary opposition, but rather to stablish fundamental differences between a scientistic metaphysics and an indigenous animistic metaphysics that, in fact, converge with very similar variants of so-called “Western” thought.
