Abstract
Debido a que los recursos son escasos y las alternativas de asignación rivales, la comparación
de costos y consecuencias de métodos tradicionales con estrategias rápidas para el diagnóstico
de la tuberculosis extrapulmonar en un programa de control de tuberculosis, facilitaría la toma
de decisiones informadas usando criterios de eficiencia y equidad. Este documento describe los
elementos claves de una evaluación económica, muestra el árbol de decisiones para el diagnóstico
de formas extra pulmonares, describe los insumos para el cálculo de costos y expone las
limitaciones y retos de la investigación en evaluación económica para la detección temprana
de patologías de interés en salud pública.
