Abstract
Este documento tiene como objetivo la identificación de las principales razones por las cuales
las instituciones prestadoras de servicios de salud (IPS) de Bogotá entregan algunas de sus
actividades necesarias para la prestación de servicios en subcontratación. Para cumplir con este
objetivo se parte de un marco conceptual en el que el aspecto esencial es el desarrollo de
competencias centrales para la prestación de servicios. El estudio se realizó en 35 IPS ubicadas
en Bogotá, tanto públicas como privadas, de diversos niveles de complejidad. El resultado más
relevante del estudio es que el principal inductor para la subcontratación consiste en la reducción
de costos, seguido por la necesidad de identificar empresas especializadas cuyas competencias
centrales coincidan con el tipo de actividad que se entrega en subcontratación.
