quidad significa la ausencia de diferencias
sistemáticas entre poblaciones
o subgrupos poblacionales
definidas socialmente, demográficamente o
geográficamente, en uno o más aspectos de
la salud. Una larga historia de estudios sobre
la distribución de la salud demuestra qué
tan lejos están los países del mundo de esta
meta. Por ejemplo, la supervivencia a la edad
de cinco años presenta grandes diferencias
entre países, incluso si se tienen en cuenta
las diferencias en el Producto Nacional Bruto,
PNB, per capita. Así, mueren antes de
los cinco años 90 niños más por cada mil
nacidos en Swazilandia que en Cuba, aunque
ambos países tienen el mismo PNB per
capita, y en Bélgica mueren cinco niños más
que en Suecia
