Abstract
Teniendo en cuenta que el objetivo central de la descentralización del sector salud en México,
planteado desde 1983 en el programa Descentralización de los Servicios de Salud de la Secretaría
de Salubridad y Asistencia, hoy Secretaría de Salud, y en el Programa Nacional de Salud se
enfocó a elevar la eficiencia, ampliar la cobertura y elevar la calidad de los servicios de salud
en el país, el siguiente artículo presenta las diversas reformas que ha tenido el sistema de salud
y algunos resultados.
Para ello se realizó la revisión de la literatura enfocada al tema y se desarrolló una investigación
en el estado de Baja California, México, para ver hasta dónde la política de descentralización
ha tenido incidencias positivas o negativas en el sector salud.
