Abstract

The article presents the Brazilian work in the identification, protection and valuation of the natural, arqueological, paleontological, and landscape patrimony. It is highlighted the ethic and pragmatic fundamentals of the preservation of the natural patrimony. Natural patrimony is defined since the relationship between nature and culture. The landscape as a human and historical development is presented like a synthetic and complex concept. The author demands a larger and a more interdisciplinary approach for the integral study and protection of the natural and cultural values of the patrimony.
