Abstract
El propósito del estudio fue comparar algunos parámetros del perfil lipídico: colesterol total, triglicéridos, lipoproteínas de baja densidad (LDL: Low-density Lipoprotein), lipoproteínas de muy baja densidad (VLDL: Very low-density Lipoprotein), lipoproteínas de alta densidad (HDL: High-density lipoprotein) y las apoproteínas A-I y B100, en 30 pacientes adultos diagnosticados con VIH/SIDA sin terapia retroviral previa, y en 30 individuos saludables seleccionados de la consulta externa del Hospital San Juan de Dios de Bogotá, D.C. Colombia. Los sujetos afectados por HIV/SIDA mostraron incrementos estadísticamente significativos respecto a los controles en los triglicéridos y en las VLDL-c, y concentraciones disminuidas estadísticamente significativos de colesterol total, LDL-c, HDL-c, y de apoproteínas B100 y A-I. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en el perfil lipídico entre hombres y mujeres afectados por la enfermedad (p> 0,05). Es posible que la alteración del metabolismo lipídico contribuya a la progresión de la enfermedad observada en la infección por VIH/SIDA.
