Journal history

The Universitas journal was established in 1951 as an interdisciplinary publication integrating contributions from various faculties of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. In 1958, the Faculty of Medicine founded Universitas Medica as a specialized continuation in health sciences. Since then, the journal has maintained a continuous publication trajectory, with the exception of 1961 and 1988.

In 2024, with the aim of strengthening its interdisciplinary scope and expanding its international impact, Universitas Medica merged with the Revista de Investigación en Enfermería Imagen y Desarrollo. This integration represents a joint effort between the Faculties of Medicine and Nursing, consolidating an editorial space for the dissemination of scientific research addressing health care challenges from diverse disciplines. The journal seeks to position itself as a leading reference in the region, promoting high-quality academic production with global impact.
