Abstract
El término performance provoca fascinación y también confusión en muchos jóvenes estudiantes, algo que se acentúa por la falta de recursos didácticos sobre el tema en español. El presente artículo intenta contribuir en esta dirección. El principal objetivo es aportar una revisión panorámica y sintética de los diferentes significados asumidos por el término performance en algunas disciplinas humanistas (lingü.stica, antropología, estudios de género, performance art y performance studies) y en música e identificar algunas de las principales orientaciones de investigación en este último ámbito. El texto también busca introducir dos de las problemáticas recurrentes en el estudio de la performance: la diferencia entre lo performático y lo performativo y la dicotomía performance en vivo vs. performance grabada, esta última especialmente relevante al abordar la performance musical mediatizada.
