Abstract
Este artículo analiza cómo las ideas de Stuart Hall han sido adoptadas de manera rigurosa y crítica por los académicos e intelectuales latinoamericanos que pueden considerarse pioneros de los estudios culturales en América Latina y quienes los siguieron; por los que realizan estudios críticos, pero rechazan la etiqueta estudios culturales, y por aquellos cuyo trabajo puede claramente ubicarse dentro del campo de los estudios culturales, aun cuando hasta ahora no se ha asumido como tal. Este análisis lleva a la conclusión de que sería simplista limitar la discusión acerca de la importancia de las ideas de Hall en América Latina exclusivamente al campo de los llamados estudios culturales latinoamericanos y plantea, más bien, la necesidad de analizar su importancia de una manera más abarcante.
