Abstract
Este estudio tuvo como objeto describir el acceso y uso de servicios médicos por parte de la
población de usuarias de cuatro localidades de Bogotá que tuvieron complicaciones hipertensivas
del embarazo durante el año 2000. A partir de la definición del resultado de la atención médica
para una condición trazadora, se hizo un seguimiento del proceso de acceso y uso de los servicios
entregados por la red pública, mediante una metodología basada en la revisión de historias
clínicas y análisis cuantitativos, complementada con evidencias cualitativas.
Los resultados del análisis descriptivo no mostraron diferencias en el nivel de uso entre grupos
de usuarias por localidad o aseguramiento, pero las evidencias cualitativas sugieren la existencia
de barreras de información, trámites y costo de los servicios para el acceso. A partir de los
hallazgos, se discute la utilidad del método propuesto y se formulan recomendaciones.
