Abstract
El autor hace una reflexión sobre las relaciones entre justicia social, ética y libertad en el contexto
del Sistema de seguridad social en salud de Colombia. Algunas evidencias sobre cobertura
del aseguramiento, el acceso y uso de los servicios parecen indicar la persistencia de viejas y
la aparición de nuevas inequidades, particularmente en la situación de los pobres. Además, las
relaciones de mercado y los valores comerciales que orientan la racionalidad política del sistema
penetra el conjunto de éste y sus organizaciones y la relación entre médicos y pacientes
perjudicando la salud de los pacientes y su libertad. Se sugiere que a pesar de tal situación
todavía hay espacio para la resistencia y para introducir transformaciones en el sistema de
salud.
