Abstract
Pretendo mostrar los inconvenientes que para la libertad de los sujetos sociales tienen el asumir
posturas absolutas y universales frente a la verdad, los métodos y procedimientos de su producción,
y frente a la información que utilizamos en la toma de decisiones. Al explorar el papel
aparentemente neutral de los expertos modernos en la producción de la verdad, propongo asumir
una posición descentrada, más a tono con un enfoque crítico y pluralista de los procesos de
investigación y de toma de decisiones. Ilustro estas dimensiones del papel de los expertos
tomando como ejemplo distintas propuestas, entre ellas un enfoque metodológico desarrollado
por el autor y que se aplica en una investigación que, desde una perspectiva participativa,
evalúa la política de focalización de subsidios para aseguramiento en salud y el sistema de
selección de beneficiarios –Sisben, en la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia–.
