Accompanying terminal and critical patients

Abstract

This paper is about terminal and criticalpatients, and the special care they need. Some of the topics analyzedh ere are: The expensive procedures to vainly extend patient’s life when they just increase his/her suffering; the importance of palliative care and the spiritual support in irreversible situations; the necessity of a University education oriented towards the respectto the affective, psychological, spiritual and religious issues of these patients; the depersonalization of teams dedicated to health care in front of the pain of others; the questions adying person does and the orientation he/she needs to have a peaceful death.
