Abstract
El presente artículo rastrea en diversas fuentes documentales la trayectoria de la artista santandereana, María Victoria Porras, desde 1966 hasta 1981. A partir de este material, se propone una interpretación constructivista de algunas de sus obras que entra en diálogo con el contexto económico, histórico, político y social de su ciudad natal, Barrancabermeja, ciudad marcada por el desarrollo urbano vinculado a la industria petrolera. Una lectura que permite entender el modo en que se han articulado en sus obras la ausencia de la figura humana y su restitución en el lenguaje, la reconciliación de la naturaleza y la cultura a través de la tecnología, y la crítica al optimismo desarrollista desde cierta forma de entender la utopía.
