Abstract
Al subvertir los espacios que fundan y modelan los valores del machismo en la comunidad latina de la Costa Este de los Estados Unidos, la instalación "En la barbería no se llora" de Pepón Osorio convoca una inquietante hibridación cultural ocupada en evaluar las contradicciones y ambivalencias del machismo y las categorías de género dentro de la experiencia migrante nuyorrican. La estética "femenina", kitsch y alegórica de la instalación despliega una apertura política de performatividades genéricas al margen no sólo de la normatividad heterosexual, sino también de las políticas de asimilación cultural que emprende la cultura hegemónica estadounidense. El articulo también examina los desplazamientos de la representación del machismo latino/americano en tanto icono posnacional capaz de dar cuenta de los procesos de globalización de las identidades nacionales.Cuadernos de Literatura is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
