Abstract
This research estimated the disease load due to tuberculosis in Pereira during 2010-2015. Patients in the tuberculosis program were included in this study. Incidence and disease load indicators were calculated. The study used record cards with management, follow-up and treatment data, patient books, clinical records, and death certificates from the statistical institute DANE. Data processing was conducted using the WHO template and Excel files. During the studied term 1796 cases were entered in the program; potentially lost years of life (AVPP) were calculated as 3753.61. When comparing the data between 2010 and 2015, the cases increased 4.2 times in men and 3.2 in women. The disability-adjusted years of life (AVAD) were higher in men between 30 and 69 years old, 67%. A larger difference between genders was in 2015, 8711.2 healthy years of life were lost (AVISA)). In conclusion, the disease load due to tuberculosis in Pereira y higher regarding the AVPP in men between 15 and 69 years old. It increased significantly between 2010 and 2015.
