Abstract
En este artículo se defienden tres tesis: i) el fenómeno de la salud no puede reducirse a las
aproximaciones conceptuales que sobre la salud, se tengan, pues una concepción más amplia y
menos fragmentaria, implica una visión más complementaria, esto es, una visión que además de
pensar en variables y externalidades políticas, económicas, sociales, ambientales –por nombrar
algunas– de lo que la salud pueda ser, piense además en sus posibilidades; en lo que permita que
la vida sea posible. Como consecuencia de esta tesis, en la ii) pretendo defender la idea de que la
salud como
posibilidad reivindica el derecho a que toda persona tiene de vivir y iii) que no solo
se debe actuar éticamente como resultado del cumplimiento de una norma o de un contrato social,
sino que el poder de la ética debe estar en la vida misma; es por ello que la ética debe convertirse
en una fuerza pública, con validez universal, que tenga como pretensión la preservación y
cuidado de la vida misma.
