Abstract
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer, desde la perspectiva del usuario y a partir de
los resultados de la Encuesta de Calidad de Vida de 1997, la satisfacción, oportunidad y razones
de no uso de servicios “formales” o de atención médica en Colombia. En las condiciones de
1997, los usuarios dieron altas calificaciones (superiores al 80%) a la oportunidad y a la calidad
(satisfacción) de los servicios de atención médica. El 64.7% de la población que estuvo enferma
no usó los servicios de atención médica por razones asociadas con problemas en la calidad
y el 83,3% adujo dificultades asimilables con la “accesibilidad”. El estudio identificó algunos
de los factores asociados con la oportunidad, la calidad y las razones de no uso y logró determinar
la asociación entre la oportunidad y la calidad.
