Resumen

La literatura indica que la vocación de carrera puede tener efectos tanto positivos como negativos a nivel individual. Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de 121 investigaciones empíricas que examinan el papel de la vocación en las respuestas afectivas, las conductas y el bienestar de los individuos. Los resultados sugieren que, aunque muchos estudios resaltan los múltiples beneficios de la vocación, sus efectos negativos han sido poco explorados. Además, el campo está fuertemente liderado por los países anglosajones, europeos y asiáticos, siendo el estudio de la vocación muy incipiente en el contexto latinoamericano. Finalmente, las investigaciones deberían desarrollar metodologías más innovadoras que mejoren el entendimiento de los procesos que subyacen a los efectos de la vocación.
