Abstract
Objective: to explore the factors associated with HIV testing in men who have sex with men in three cities in Colombia. Methodology: a cross-sectional study, using respondent-led sampling, was conducted in which 1314 Men Who Have Sex with Men from Bogotá, Medellín and Cali participated in 2019. Descriptive analyses, bivariate associations and binomial regression were performed. Results: 50.8% of MSM were tested for HIV in the last 12 months, finding that the probability of getting tested increases among those under 30 years of age, those who perceive discrimination, did not consult health services in the last year and in those who had more than 10 sexual relations in the year prior to the survey. Conclusions: Interventions are needed to increase HIV testing among men who have sex with men in Colombia, differentiated by age and sexual risk behaviors. Counseling strategies must be strengthened, access to services improved, discrimination reduced, and work on modifiable sociodemographic determinants.
