Abstract

This paper describes the Advanced Planning and Scheduling Systems (APS), their evolution from MRP, and their main features and functions; the Theory of Constraints is also reviewed. Implementation cases are analyzed in order to determine the main factors that must be considered so as to benefit from the application of an APS. Finally, trends in the use of APS both in Colombia and worldwide are analyzed.
