Abstract
Stress is a fundamental psychosocial variable in the training process and subsequent professional practice of nursing students. The aim of this study is to analyse the psychometric properties of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) developed by Cohen, Kamarck and Mermelstein (1983). A total of 537 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the university campus of Ceuta and Melilla (University of Granada), aged between 18 and 55 years, participated in the study. For the analysis of the psychometric properties (reliability and AFE), the SPSS 30.0 statistical package and the Factor Analysis Program v.10.9.02 (Lorenzo-Seva & Ferrando, 2006) were used. The results obtained were adequate according to the reliability indices analysed, demonstrating the reliability and validity of the scale (PSS) formed by two factors: perceived coping resources with a Chronbach's alpha of 0.850 and 0.811, respectively. Stress interacts with the academic context and can affect students' mental health.
