Abstract
The disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 can generate negative consequences during gestation. The objective of this literature review was to report the maternal and neonatal repercussions associated with the SARS-CoV-2 infection. A systematic literature search was conducted in MEDLINE following the search guidelines in the PRISMA Declaration. 15 publications were retrieved describing the most frequent repercusion on neonates and pregnant women: Intensive Care Unit admission requiring invasive ventilatory support, preterm birth, postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, low birth weight, abortions and stillbirths. Information available on maternal and neonatal repercussions is not conclusive. It is not exactly known if the repercussions found were related to the infection or were isolated events. Vertical transmission is an unusual event and infections in neonates are mainly due to horizontal transmission.
