Abstract

Gallstone ileus is an uncommon pathology, difficult to diagnose on a pre-surgical way, mostly sometimes presents as intestinal obstruction without biliary symptoms associated. In 2010, it presented two cases, each one with different characteristics regarding the fistula location and post-operative evolution: cholecystogastric fistula and obstruction of the terminal ileus and cholecystoduodenal fistula and obstruction of the medial yeyunum. First was resolved with colecystectomy and fistula closure. The second was trated only by obstruction resolution. Since in literature there isn’t a comprehensive review of this type of pathology, there is not agreement in the management of the biliary pathology at the same surgical time, and taking in account the different evolution of our two patients, is the reason that we were interested in the evaluation of this problem.
