Abstract

The neuromyelitis optica is an autoimmune demyelinating inflammatory disease from the central nervous system that is mediated by auto-antibodies against the receptor of aquaporin 4 (Ac IgQ4). We report the case of a 23 year-old woman, in week 28 of pregnancy, with antecedent of neuromyelitis optica, who consulted by relapse of the disease with poor response to treatment with corticosteroids, reason why she received 5 sessions of plasma exchange with significant clinical improvement.
