Abstract

The SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the lack of assistance personnel for times of contingency: news, the increase in demand for services, among others, as well as the care of critically ill patients sick and highly complex. This is why it was necessary to train the nursing staff in specific areas such as the intensive care unit and specialized units. As stated by the director of development of Human Talent in Health del Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social, Luis Gabriel Bernal: “The role of the nurse is vital in the context of the country's health emergency: There are many challenges facing nursing staff, but above all and where we must focus is precisely on the opportunities that arise at this historical moment for professional practice.” Nursing staff make up about 50% of the hospital staff; in times of pandemic, the continuous training of human talent becomes a challenge.
