Abstract

this paper describes four aspects of bullying. First, some concepts on violence are introduced, demonstrating the difficulties found when trying to define the phenomenon. Second, the discourse on “bullying” is described, from its definition, its appearance and manifestations, to the actors and the ways it has been studied as a phenomenon internationally and in Colombia. Finally, it is argued that studies on bullying are especially important as they address the meaning the different actors give to the phenomenon.
