Abstract

This paper puts forward the question whether production and impact of Ibero-American education research should be measured using standard methodologies. A study is carried out in which the results for a group of Ibero-American education researchers are measured using Thomson ISI standard rules and using Google Scholar as an alternative. The results show that —given the characteristics of the field of research in education— the alternative focus offers a more complete picture and reflects the work and impact of the research in a more realistic and fair way.
