Abstract
Objective: To provide guidelines related to prevention of overweight and obesity in children, adolescents and adults, as well as provide guidelines about the management of these conditions in adult people. Methods: The Guideline Development Group was formed by an interdisciplinary group of professionals and patient representatives. Scope, objectives and main outcomes for the guideline were defined. A literature search was performed, including systematic reviews-meta-analyses, clinical trials, cohort studies, and case-control studies in Medline, Embase, and Central databases. Results: In this document we presented a summary of recommendations and the evidence related to prevention of overweight and obesity for children, as well as guidelines for the management (including pharmacological, multicomponent and surgical approach) of these health conditions for adult patients. Conclusion: This guideline offers to clinicians, patients and general population important recommendations to prevention and management of overweight and obesity in our country.
