Abstract

To mark the 160th anniversary of the Sarawak Law —a biological law that regulates the emergence of new species— postulated by Alfred Russel Wallace on the island of Borneo and published in 1855 in his seminal paper entitled “On the Law Which You Regulated the Introduction of New Species”, we have elaborated on the multiple origins of the theory of evolution, generally attributed to Charles Darwin. We refer herewith some historical sources that complement and underpin the scheme that is commonly called “Darwinian”, with emphasis in selected cases on the Colombian scientific history.
