Abstract
Pulmonary thromboembolism is a clinical condition linked to various risk factors and high morbidity and mortality.
The scales aimed at establishing a pre-test probability are designed to detect risk factors for presenting the disease, however its diagnosis is a great challenge when there are no such factors, as in the report of this case treated in a fourth level hospital (Hospital Universitario San Ignacio) in Bogotá DC (Colombia).
The guide of pulmonary thromboembolism of the European Society of Cardiology of 2019 was taken as a basis and a literature search was conducted using the mesh terms: “pulmonary thromboembolism in low probability patients” in Pubmed, google schoolar and scopus sources, with obtaining insufficient results which makes it important to report this case and leads to highlighting the impact of the clinical presumption as a fundamental diagnostic tool in the emergency department.
