Resumen

La incidencia del paro cardiorrespiratorio en niños varía ampliamente: oscila entre 0,026 y 0,197 por cada 1000 habitantes menores de 18 años por año. La causa más frecuente es de origen respiratorio y el abordaje debe instaurarse de manera precoz y enfocarse en la identificación y el manejo del evento desencadenante. La búsqueda de la literatura para esta revisión se llevó a cabo en las bases de datos Medline, Embase y LILACS. El equipo de urgencias debe tener bien establecida la intervención que va a realizar, debido a que el procedimiento rápido, oportuno y adecuado es vital para la supervivencia del paciente.
